Notes from Dianne

We hardly recognize the world in which we live when we hear about tsunamis, wars and natural disasters. But these days we not only hear about them, but too many of us are having to deal with them in our own lives, and the lives of friends, family and loved ones. We extend our deepest concern and prayers, as well as the assistance that Aglow is sending, to those areas and people, in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and the wild fires in California. We will continue to pray and do what we can to help.

Aglow has been in contact with our women in the disaster areas, and has diligently attempted to help, and handle information, by setting up a Command and Control Center at our offices. Through our data base, we have been accessing our women in the gulf region. All of our Mississippi woman are accounted for, though some are homeless, and all are helping each other, including housing those in need. Many of our women in Louisiana have not yet been reached. Aglow women were among the first responders in the Gulf Coast, as they were in the tsunami area last December and January.

Jane Hansen, Aglow's International President, will be traveling to the hurricane disaster area in October to bring our gifts and comfort to our Aglow women there. We have already been sending monies from our Disaster Relief Fund, and will continue to do so. (Go to Aglow@aglow.org to donate online or send donations to Aglow Worldwide Headquarters, PO Box 1749, Edmonds WA 98020. You can also find Prayer Targets for the Katrina and Rita Disaster Areas on that website.) To quote Jane, " . . . the key to proper insight, is seeing everything through the lens of God's mercy. . . It is an almost unbearable tragedy, and our Aglow women are going to need our prayers and support for some time. . . "

In Aglow, God reaches into a woman’s life and brings answers to her questions, hope to her heart, and peace and meaning to her life, as a result of His salvation, redemption, restoration, healing and wholeness.

Whether you are wondering if there is a God, or are a Christian, we offer a place to grow, find caring and supportive friendships, listening ears and hearts, and a sense of belonging. When we gather together, God’s presence is in our midst, and His presence strengthens our lives.

Each local group is called a Lighthouse, our symbol for a beacon to show the way, a light to warn of danger, a reliable source of information, God Himself, His Word, and the warmth of godly friendships and family.

Our concerns extend far beyond ourselves and our families, to today’s world concerns of terrorism, war and disaster, as we encourage one another toward a Biblical world view, and a life of prayer, service and trust in God.

We hope this website will help you locate Aglow in your area.
